In a mix of voices, guitar, drums and marranzano, the Sikelia retrace the ancient and traditional memories of Sicily, with the passion that binds them to this land. From island origins but explorers of language, they create a harmonious graft between the music of their roots, World music and the “Music Medicine” and therapeutic, taking the listener on a journey of sounds, stories, culture, instruments and experiments. The Sikelia perform a multi-faceted concert activity, women and sound embrace their research, in contexts ranging from busking on the street, private parties, retreats and festivals of well-being, nature, yoga sessions and experimentation with more contemporary languages.
Giulia Fassari from an early age showed great interest in music but especially in singing.
She has been a member of the theatre company “Teste Toste del liceo linguistico Regina Elena di Acireale.
He began studying pop and jazz singing at the age of 14 with the teacher Edi Valastro. Graduated in Jazz Singing at the V. Bellini Institute in Catania.
Over the years he is also passionate about various musical genres such as blues, R&B, soul, folk and popular music of Eastern Europe, Asia, Africa and African percussion, singing in different formations and performing around Sicily.
Over the years he participates in the masterclasses of musicians such as Daniela Spalletta, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Dave Kikoski, Paola Munda, Dino Rubino, Former chorister of Pink Floyd and a masterclass in experimental theatre with Vittorio Vaccaro at Viagrande Studios (CT).
Two-year graduate in Jazz Singing at the V. Bellini Institute of Catania then won a scholarship and attended the CET – Mogol School, in the class interpreters. Currently engaged in World Music with the Orchestra Jacarànda.
Elisa Messina Sicilian music therapist and multi-instrumentalist musician, born in Taormina. He began his musical journey more than twenty years ago studying piano and then modern guitar. Being part of projects such as “Le Malmaritate”, “Babil on Suite”, “le Sikelia” Researcher in the musical field and educator in nature, she loves to spread the beauty and change that music can convey as a social, therapeutic and artistic tool
