Compagnia Faciti Rota

Faciti Rota” is an invitation to form a circle, women and men, and start the dances. This phrase has given its name to their company, which organizes and accompanies dance parties, alternating sung songs from the oral tradition of both Sicily and Southern Italy with typical instrumental pieces for dance accompaniment. In the end, musicians and the audience come together, forming a circle (rota in Italian). With the addition of the Moroccan musician Lakbir Ghazout, the company explores a new repertoire of cross-pollination between Sicilian cart drivers’ songs and the modal melodies of the Arabic oud repertoire.
