Nakaira

The Nakaira group was founded in 1999 with the intention of reviving folk music in Sicily, a genre for which the musicians have a particular devotion. After their initial appearances in local festivals and events, in January 2000, Nakaira released their first album titled “Musiche a danzare tra oriente e occidente” (Music to Dance between East and West) under the Ethnoworld label in Milan. The CD was well-received internationally and received positive reviews from major specialized publications. Subsequently, the group, with renewed lineup and stylistic exploration shifting towards Mediterranean traditions, participated in numerous national and international festivals and events.
