Marranzano World Fest

13° Edition | 2022

The MWF returns after two years of “diaspora” to its original and preferred venue in the courtyard and cloisters of the Monastero dei Benedettini, with a rich program featuring important international artists alternating with our renowned Sicilian virtuosos for a vibrant edition dedicated to brass instruments, with a focus on brass band traditions in Sicily, also highlighted through special projects such as the encounter of ROY PACI with the Collesano Brass Band (Palermo, Sicily), Rita Botto with the Avola Brass Band (Siracusa, Sicily) and Eleonora Bordonaro with the Giudei di Sanfratello (Messina, Sicily).

An edition that will develop in crescendo: from the meditative atmospheres of the Preludio entrusted to Markus Stockhausen & Alireza Mortazavi, to the unrestrained rhythms of contemporary pizzica by Kalàscima and the Afro-Futurism of Fulu Miziki; from the itinerant interventions of the Balkan and Central European brass band of the Orchestra del Vetex to the explosive finale with the concert of SEUN KUTI & EGYPT80, the legendary big band led by the youngest son and artistic heir of the famous Fela Kuti, “the Black President,” Nigerian musician and activist, founder of Afrobeat, and cult figure for all genres of Black Music.
