Tore Chessa

Tore Chessa is 58 years old, hailing from Sardinia, and discovered his passion for the trunfa at a young age when he spent hours listening to his brothers play. Since then, he has never stopped either listening to other musicians or learning to play himself. His passion remains strong: to play the trunfa, he draws inspiration from traditional Sardinian music, including the rhythm of the Sardinian “canto a tenore” (throat singing performed by four men, designated a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage since 2008) and the sound of the launeddas (another typical musical instrument of Sardinia). He is a member of the tenore Selema di Torpè, where he began singing as a soloist.
