Workshop | Central Asian throat singing with Sainkho Namtchylak

A unique opportunity to explore harmonic singing and traditions of Central Asia under the guidance of a world-renowned interpreter.
Basic differences between various styles of harmonic and “throat singing” will be explained and demonstrated. Exercises will be performed to help develop the harmonic resonators of the voice. Participants will learn some traditional Tuvan songs that can be performed in both traditional and harmonic singing styles. A brief theoretical and practical overview of the differences between various styles of harmonic singing in Central Asia will be provided, with particular attention to techniques used in shamanic and Buddhist traditions.
