Workshop | Kechak and traditional Balinese mask’s theater with Tapa Sudana (Bali, Indonesia)

Body, energy, emotion, character, and spirit” are the words that best describe traditional Balinese theater. Master Tapa Sudana will introduce participants to the experience of Kechak, a vocal technique and ritual dance originally performed within temples to ward off evil spirits. The workshop will also allow participants to learn about and use the sacred masks of Balinese theater, which, thanks to the “tribuana” technique, come to life. Spirits manifest and guide the performers in their task, with music moving the actor-dancer. How? Space and time will reveal the answer.

Tapa Sudana was born in Bali in 1945 and has been living in France since 1974.
